Wedding Fees

Below you will find details of fees for a wedding in the Chase Benefice.

Statutory Fees

There is a required legal fee for marrying in a church. This is set by the Church of England nationally and is the same for every church.  This basic legal fee includes the cost of the minister, the church, calling your banns, the marriage certificate, lighting and all administration.

In 2022 this fee is £512

Optional extras

The statutory wedding fee doesn’t include the following extras

Verger*                         £40
Organist                        £125**
Bells                                £150**
Heating                          £45
Additional marriage
certificates                   £11 each

* We recommend that you have a Verger as they will assist the minister in preparing the Church before and tidying the church after the service – saving your guests the job!

** When the service is videoed the organist and bell fees are doubled.  This is a performance rights fee.

We require all fees to be paid in full before the rehearsal. If you are paying by cheque it should be paid at least three weeks before the date of the wedding.

A donation

These fees go nowhere to maintain our beautiful and historic buildings. Contrary to popular belief the Church receives no money from the State for the upkeep of our ancient buildings and the churches of the Benefice only remain open because of the generosity of people who use it.

We, therefore, ask you to consider giving a substantial donation towards the upkeep of the Church so that in years to come others can celebrate their marriages here too. An average donation in recent years has been between £300—500. This donation can be Gift Aided, therefore allowing us to reclaim tax from the Inland Revenue.
